A real example of a first product

I want to show you what a real first product, that makes money, actually looks like, as well as what your experience might look like.

Because you chose digital products, I can share my personal experience with you.

When I decided I could not continue teaching the way I was, I did not quit. I could not afford to. Instead, I kept showing up to work while quietly building something of my own on the side.

I thought about the problems I genuinely understood. Not topics I had read about. Problems I had experience with and knew how to solve.

The previous year I put a huge amount of work into one particular student and their family who had severe school refusal. I saw the impact it had on the child and the family, and also saw the lengths the parents were going to, outside of school, with my guidance, to try to build better routines and break the cycle. I decided that this was one very specific problem I had a lot of experience with, could guide families through and create resources to support them.

It was also a problem that parents struggling with wanted to solve, meaning they would be more motivated to buy the solution compared to something like a guide with fun activities to do with your child.

I built a PDF guide for parents and a series of optional supporting tools and resources. I priced it at $29 with the supporting resources priced between $12 and $18.

I created an IG page but then decided not to post on it because I did not have time and did not want to be an influencer type brand. Instead I ran low cost Meta ads and made my first sale on the day after my first ad went live.

Someone, a complete stranger, had found my product, decided it was worth their money, and bought it. It was proof that I could do this and it was happening faster than I had imagined.

After creating many more products, some successful, some unsuccessful, I now know that the product has been so successful because it is built on real experience, not generic information. It solved one specific problem for one specific person and delivered exactly what it promised.

And it became successful starting from zero, without a following, without showing my face, and without leaving teaching until I was ready.

I built that first product in three to four weekends. I can now build one in a fraction of that time using amazing AI tools which I will share with you later.
